About Cellulite:

Regardless of age, many women are simply predisposed to having cellulite. Genetic make up, hormones, vascular changes, and inflammation may all contribute to the condition of the skin. Women more often suffer from cellulite because their subcutaneous fat layer (shown below) is separated by thin vertical columns of collagen, as opposed to the cross-cross network found in men. Over time these columns become inflexible and allow protrusions of the enlarged fat cells to be far more visible on the surface of the skin. This potrusions cause an outward appearance that looks much like an orange peel or cottage cheese. |

Cellulite

Cellulite appears as changes occur within the layer beneath the dermis called the hypodermal layer or subcutaneous fat layer. (shown above) These fat cells absorb lipids, become enlarged and take on irregular shapes as pictured below. The once flexible collagen fiber columns can become rigid. Because of the stiffness of these columns they pull the skin in some areas while the enlarged fat cells push and create protrusions in other areas. The result is the dimpled surface known as cellulite. |

What results can I expect?

The SmoothShapes® treatment protocol consists of 2 treatments a week for four weeks for a total of eight treatments. What should I expect during treatment?
 SmoothShapes® represents a significant improvement in the way cellulite is treated. After treatment, you will feel smoother and tighter skin in the treated area and can expect lasting results. The SmoothShapes system can treat all skin types including tanned skin.
The treatment is comfortable and no preparation is needed. You can expect the following:

Following the procedure, you can resume normal activity without pain or downtime and without any restrictions. Some things you may notice after treatment are:
- Skin may appear slightly pink which resolves itself anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours after treatment
- Skin may feel slightly warm, which resolves itself within 30 minutes after treatment
